Debbie Maryott
Interview by Trystan Vink

Debbie Maryott

For my Senior Spotlight, it was a little harder to find a person to do my report on, not growing up around Decatur and not knowing a lot of people. I was introduced to Debbie Maryott and decided that she was a good person to write about.

Debbie Maryott was not born here in Nebraska. She was born in Ogden, Utah. She grew up in Sunset, Utah with her parents and her brother and sister. She attended Doxy Elementary School, Sunset Junior High, and Clearfield High School. After graduation, she attended the University of Pheonix.

Debbie was married to Jim Maryott on June 9th, 1973 in Utah. They have two daughters and seven grandchildren.

Debbie has had many different jobs throughout her life. She worked for a campaign headquarters, call center, candy company, seafood store, Webster County School District for eight years as a tutor, and Converges for fifteen years.

When asking Debbie if she had any advice for me going into the future she said to get your schooling.  Go to college if that is what you plan to do. She also talked about setting goals for myself. To start with short term goals to get to your long term goals.

Debbie’s favorite memory in Decatur is coming here with her daughters and husband.  She also likes floating on the river.

Debbie has traveled to many places around the world. She has been to Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas, and Mazatlan.  Her and her husband love to travel.

When asking Debbie what she would like to see done to better our town, she had some good options.  She said that she would like to see our town cleaned up a little better to make it more appealing for our visitors passing through our town.  She also said that a bigger grocery store would really benefit our town. Other than that, she thinks our town is a great place to live.
